Knots in Wood is a site featuring three poems by Anne Deredita. It is divided into two parts. For those systems which are compatible with VRML the three poems are available in a 3D environment through which the user can navigate. For those who choose not to explore my 3D world, the same three poems are available in the traditional HTML format. In either case it is strongly recommended that you visit The Poems page first so that you can read the poems in their entirety. This will also help you navigate both the HTML and the VRML worlds.

System Requirements: VRML Download times will vary depending on your modem and connection speeds. Even with a 56k connection download time will be relatively slow and will require some patience.
It is recommended that you not attempt the virtual worlds unless your computer has a minimum processor speed of 300mhz and at least 32MB of Ram. A Graphics accelerator card is always helpful.
If you are using Explorer 4.0 or higher odds are there is already a VRML plug-in installed on your system. If you are using another browser or if a plug-in is not installed you can download Cosmo Player for free. Cosmo Player is recommended because it seems to handle the imagery better.

Sound: Both the HTML and the VRML worlds have Wave files which read the poetry. In the VRML pages the sound is connected to the viewpoints. In order to hear the poet reading her work you must be at the preset viewpoint labeled "reading". Some of the worlds require you to trigger the sound by clicking the text. Others require you to move forward.

In all the VRML worlds there are links which connect the pages. Simply move the mouse over the imagery to see where the links are. The VRML worlds open in their own browser window. On some computers the VRML links fail. If this happens simply close the new browser window. The VRML home page has links to the individual pages.
