Understanding "Mooncalfe Charlie"

an animation by Matthew Maher

The purpose of my year long animation was to create a story without losing the personality of the character involved. The character involved here is a lizard for no other reason than because I wanted my new pet to become the star of my animation. The lizard "Charlie" was modeled using Maya Animation Software version 2.0, and he was designed to remain cartoon like to add to the effect of the story. The term "Mooncalfe" is from Old English and it had been used to refer to the awkard behavior of adolescents. The general clumsiness was likened to the awkwardness of a newly born calf.

The animation in total length is 0:01:10 in length, and Maya 2.0 and Maya 2.5 were used for the entire animation.

I would like to thank, Erik Gaskell for the assistance with the musical score, My parents for the backing in following a desire to be creative, My advisor for providing guidance but for also letting me run free with ideas, Sonalysts Studios for the start at my Maya education and lastly My friends for putting up with my soryline ramblings and for supporting me, that really meant a lot to me.

If you would like to get in touch with me about this animation or anything else. Feel free to email me.

                     Thank you all.
