VirtuaLighter is a computer program for the control of theatrical lighting. In today's modern theater almost every lighting instrument, color scroller and special effect can be controlled using the DMX 512 protocol. Unfortunately, the equipment has gotten better and better, but the controllers have been lagging far behind.
Today lighting designers and master electricians have had few options when it comes to lighting consoles. At best, these consoles are difficult to use and hard to program and can cost more than $10,000. VirtuaLighter is going to change that.
VirtuaLighter is designed to run on any Windows 95 computer. It utilizes many of the shortcuts and features of this operating system to give you the flexibility and the speed needed in today's modern lighting situations. Tired of faxing pages of cue sheets? Well just e-mail them to your destination. Better yet, bring your lap-top with you and be ready to roll in the first five minutes.
Computers bring the much needed compatibility and flexibility that we need as designers. The graphical user interface means that you can organize your lighting desk the way you want to, not the way some technician feels it should be done. This system also offers expandability to control up to 5,120 channels. Also the program is so small that you can run almost any other application at the same time. You can finally keep your MIDI files, lighting files, and notes all on the same console. Information is just a window away, not buried under a pile of scraps.
